Crystal Palace want to add Stade de Reims’ Oumar Diakité to their squad this summer, according to Africa Foot.
The French club finished 16th [18 teams in Ligue 1] and lost the relegation play-off to FC Metz last season.
They were relegated, but as things stand, Stade de Reims will stay in Ligue 1, after Lyon’s administrative relegation. Lyon have appealed and if the punishment is overturned, Stade de Reims will drop to the second division.
Despite the French club’s struggles, some of their players attracted interest from other clubs, including Diakité, who has caught Crystal Palace’s attention.
The striker managed four goals and an assist from 33 games last season and the Eagles have followed him for some time. He has a contract lasting until 2028, and the FA Cup winners made a €10m offer to Stade de Reims.
Africa Foot adds Oliver Glasner’s side have also offered the Ivory Coast international a five-year contract worth €3.5m per year.
The 21-year-old is keen on joining Crystal Palace, but his club aren’t in favour of selling him for now. Stade de Reims president Jean-Pierre Caillot is said to be waiting for better offers to sell Diakité.
