Report: Nottingham Forest told to increase bid by £4m to sign star who annoyed Vinicius Junior

Nottingham Forest will be on the lookout for some new players this summer, with European football to look forward to on Trentside.

Igor Jesus is set to join the Forest ranks from Botafogo after they were knocked out of the Club World Cup at the weekend by Palmeiras.

Other players will likely join too, with Forest still interested in Jair Cunha, the central defender who currently plays for the same team as Jesus.

Forest will hope to keep hold of their top players too this summer. Anthony Elanga is fancied by Newcastle, whilst Morgan Gibbs-White has also attracted some interest.

Nottingham Forest must up the ante for Pablo Maffeo

It was claimed over the weekend that Forest had agreed a deal to sign Maffeo from Real Mallorca this summer – but those claims might have been premature.

According to Marca, the Reds will need to fork out £8 million to sign the full-back, which will mean the club raising their current offer by another £3.8 million.

Maffeo is set on leaving Mallorca this summer, and a number of clubs all over Europe are keen to land him, with some La Liga clubs also keeping an eye on things.

The 27-year-old made 31 appearances for Mallorca last season but now looks set to move on after their mid-table finish in La Liga.

MORE FOREST STORIES

Maffeo is a man for the big occasion, it would seem and famously had a couple of fierce tussles with Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior last season.

Maffeo could be a useful option for Forest

The Reds will definitely be looking at full-back options this summer, with competition in short supply for Neco Williams and Ola Aina.

Maffeo was previously on the books at Manchester City, scoring twice and claiming three assists for the under-23s but failing to make a first-team appearance.

The right-back has ample experience playing at the top level, however, and that would make him a useful signing for the Reds ahead of next season.

Forest don’t have much in the way of cover should anything happen to Aina or Williams, and both a right-back and left-back will likely be sought this summer.
