Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich each booked their places in the FIFA Club World Cup quarterfinals on Sunday with victories over Inter Miami and Flamengo respectively.

Sunday’s action saw 10 goals scored across the two games, with PSG triumphing 4-0 over Inter Miami at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, while Bayern defeated Flamengo 4-2 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

PSG took control of their fixture early, opening the scoring in the sixth minute as Vitinha’s free kick was perfectly placed for João Neves to head past goalkeeper Oscar Ustari from the back post.

Neves doubled PSG’s lead in the 39th minute as the European Champions capitalised on a defensive error from Sergio Busquets, walking it in for Neves’ second of the game.

The Champions League winners would add another before the end of the first half. Désiré Doué’s cross bounced off of Tomás Avilés and into the back of the net for an own goal in the 44th minute.

The Parisians completed a dominant first half performance with a fourth and final goal after Bradley Barcola cut the ball back for Achraf Hakimi who hit the crossbar before slotting the rebound home in first half stoppage time.

Inter Miami could not find a way back into the match in the second half and their campaign came to an unceremonious end.

Bayern Munich began their round of 16 clash against Flamengo in similar fashion, forcing an own goal from a corner as Erick Pulgar headed the ball into his own net in the sixth minute.

Harry Kane added a second goal in the ninth minute with a long range effort that snuck in off of the left upright for his first goal of the tournament’s knockout stage.

Flamengo struck back in the 33rd minute through Gerson, who smashed Giorgian de Arrascaeta’s layoff into the roof of the net, leaving Manuel Neuer no chance to stop the ball.

Bayern restored their two-goal lead in the 41st minute thanks to a superb strike from Leon Goretzka, who found the bottom left corner from outside the area.

Flamengo capitalised on a penalty awarded against Michael Olise for a handball in the box, with Jorginho making no mistake from the spot to reduce the deficit in the 55th minute.

Kane put the game to rest in the 73rd minute with his second of the game, calmly finding the bottom right corner from inside the box.

PSG and Bayern will face one another in the quarterfinals at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Friday.

Inter Milan will be next to attempt to advance to the quarterfinals when they face Fluminense on Monday at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. The fixture will commence at 9pm CAT.

Man City will follow suit as they face Al Hilal at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, with kick-off scheduled for 3am CAT on Tuesday.

Inter topped group E with two wins and one draw, whilst Fluminense finished behind Dortmund in group F, registering two draws and one win in their three group-stage matches.

City will attempt to remain perfect as they continue their title defence, facing an Al Hilal side who are yet to be beaten at the tournament.
