Leeds United are keen on securing the services of Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers in the summer transfer window.

Dr Rajpal Brar, an injury expert, has looked at the United States international’s fitness record over recent seasons and has highlighted what the Whites may look for before finalising the deal.

The 27-year-old has been at Parkhead since leaving Tottenham in the summer of 2021.

Carter-Vickers’ past knee surgery may be looked at

Despite it happening a few years ago, the Whites may want to check out the knee surgery the centre-back had to gauge if there is any wear and tear, according to Dr Brar.

Leeds United and Sunderland are both keen on the Celtic defender, who could be on his way out this summer. (Herald Scotland, 15 June)

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Dr Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist, said about Carter-Vickers: “Leeds may take a look at his surgically operated knee in the 2022/23 season to see if there are any wear and tear changes that are outside of normal variance.

“He hasn’t had any major setbacks over the last couple of seasons, so that’s always a positive.

“His game time and matches played have been adequate as well.”

Leeds United do not need another centre-back after signing Jaka Bijol

Leeds United no longer need to sign Carter-Vickers following their acquisition of Jaka Bijol from Udinese.

Bijol, a 26-year-old Slovenian centre-back with 63 international caps, brings proven Serie A experience and aerial dominance, addressing Leeds’ defensive needs as they make their Premier League return.

His physicality and consistent performances, including at Euro 2024, make him a marquee signing for Daniel Farke’s squad.

With Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk already in place, Bijol’s arrival provides sufficient depth and quality, rendering Carter-Vickers’ outlay unnecessary for Leeds’ defensive strategy.
