Arsenal ‘back in the poker game’ to sign player – Andrea Berta could dump Gyökeres and Šeško

Arsenal have been repeatedly linked to both Sporting star Viktor Gyökeres and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško in the run up to the summer window.

The Portuguese press has reported on Gyökeres’ desire to join the Gunners this summer, while claims elsewhere have discussed Arsenal interest in Šeško.

Arsenal are looking for a new striker this summer and sporting director Andrea Berta is working on it. Eintracht Frankfurt star Hugo Ekitiké is also on the Italian’s list if a report from Monday’s edition of Bild is to be believed. Their title says ‘Arsenal back in the poker game for Ekitiké’.

Within the report, it’s explained Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United are all said to be keen on the 23-year-old. These clubs haven’t made progress, but that ‘should change soon’, potentially because of Mikel Arteta’s side.

Bild report the Frenchman is being seriously considered at the Emirates as Andrea Berta is thinking about him given the difficulties he’s having with others.

The Bundesliga club are still demanding €100m for Ekitiké. Last week, we covered claims from Germany that they are several reasons why they feel they can demand such a fee. One of those reasons, quite bizarrely, was the player being French.

Attempting to drag Arsenal back in feels like desperation. If Berta isn’t keen on paying up for Gyökeres or Šeško then he’d surely laugh at €100m for Ekitiké or even anything close to that amount.
