There’s a claim in the Turkish media that Aston Villa have stepped up their pursuit of Galatasaray midfielder Gabriel Sara.
The Brazilian has been linked with a move to the Premier League this summer and along with Aston Villa, Manchester City, Manchester United and Leeds United have also been linked.
Hurriyet report Aston Villa have moved in on the 25-year-old, and even state the Villains have tabled an offer for the central midfielder.
It’s claimed Aston Villa have offered €20m for Sara, but it seems they will need to improve on this bid. According to Hurriyet, Galatasaray are looking for offers in the region of €40m, just 12 months after signing him from Norwich City for around €20m.
There’s no indication whether the Premier League side will return with an improved offer, but it’s very unlikely they will meet Gala’s valuation. Only last week there were reports the Super Lig champions are keen for Sara to remain with them ahead of next season, and whilst they may come down slightly from the €40m it’s unlikely to be by a great deal.
Sara made 45 appearances last season, scoring two goals. He’s contracted to Galatasaray until June 2029.
