Man Utd man showed shades of true'DNA'with what he did at Old Trafford,'it's something'that is inevitable for him

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim almost witnessed the core “DNA” structure of the Premier League club manifest before his very eyes last season.

Ruben Amorim saw out the 2024-25 Premier League season at Old Trafford after the 40-year-old became the sixth permanent Manchester United manager since 2013.

The United head coach replaced former Ajax manager Erik ten Hag at the Premier League club last November after he left his managerial role at Sporting CP.

Erik ten Hag was sacked as United manager last October after a poor start to the season and Amorim oversaw a tough start to life in England as Red Devils boss.

United suffered their worst Premier League finish since the league’s inception back in 1992, with the Red Devils left languishing in 15th place in the 2024-25 season.

The Red Devils’ poor run of form in the Premier League has also left United without any European football for the 2025-26 campaign at Old Trafford under Amorim.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah came through the Manchester United youth academy and the former Red Devils talent lifted a Europa League title during his time at the club.

The 27-year-old Dutch defender climbed into the United first team under Louis van Gaal and Timothy Fosu-Mensah played in 30 matches for the senior team.

Fosu-Mensah has spoken on Ruben Amorim during an interview with the Independent and the former United defender touched on the Red Devils as well.

The former Netherlands international, who is currently a free agent, insisted that everyone knows the “history of United” and “what United stands for” as a club.

However, Fosu-Mensah added that a core part of United’s “DNA” is winning trophies and the Red Devils came within touching distance of it under Amorim last season.

“I’ll always be a fan of United,” he said.

“Always. I came there when I was 16, I left when I was 23. I’ve had many nice moments, won a couple of trophies, especially in my first season.

“We all know United, we all know the history of United, we all know what United stands for.

“Even this last season the Premier League was difficult for them but they reached the Europa League final, so it’s something in the DNA of the club that they always want to win trophies.”

Ruben Amorim has proven he is the ‘right’ Man Utd manager and it is only a matter of time before he becomes part of said ‘DNA’

United reached the 2025 Europa League final under Amorim, despite the Red Devils’ woeful Premier League form in the 2024-25 season at Old Trafford.

Amorim was within touching distance of his first piece of major silverware as Red Devils boss, only for United to fall to Tottenham at the final hurdle in May.

Spurs defeated United 1-0 in the Europa League final at the San Mames Stadium and Amorim’s men walked away empty-handed from the encounter.

Tottenham ensured their place in the Champions League for next season and ended the Red Devils’ hopes of sneaking back into Europe for the 2025-26 campaign.
