The Boston Celtics are keeping their options open—and their G League MVP in the mix.
According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, Boston has exercised JD Davison‘s team option for the 2025–26 season. The one-year deal is worth $2.27 million and non-guaranteed, giving the front office maximum flexibility with one of their most intriguing young players.

From 53rd Overall to MVP
It’s been a steady climb for Davison since the Celtics picked him 53rd overall in the 2022 draft. After bouncing between Boston and Maine on two-way contracts, he put together a breakout season in the G League—averaging 25.6 points, 7.8 assists, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game. He didn’t just impress—he dominated.
The 22-year-old took home G League MVP honors and saw his hard work rewarded with a late-season bump to Boston’s full roster. He’s only logged 198 NBA minutes across three years, but the needle is clearly trending up.

A Door Opens in the Celtics’ Rotation
