Chelsea may have one last chance to sign one of their former players as a deal moves closer to completion.
The Blues have already been active in the transfer market, bringing Liam Delap to Stamford Bridge after agreeing a £30million deal for the striker.
It seems that Chelsea are still looking to strengthen their forward options, with a £55million deal being agreed with Borussia Dortmund to sign Jamie Gittens.
Chelsea have also reached an agreement with Brighton to sign Joao Pedro, who will be aiming to complete a move to west London in a deal worth £55million plus a further £5million in add-ons.
With the prospect of three new forwards being added to the Chelsea squad, it also seems unlikely that they will look to activate a buyback clause in a deal for one of their former players.
When Chelsea sold Tammy Abraham to Roma for a fee worth up to £30million, the Blues included a buyback in the deal, which came into effect back in 2023. The clause allows the Blues to re-sign Abraham if they present an offer worth €80million (£68.5million).
Instead, it seems that Abraham will be moving to another club rather than returning to Stamford Bridge.
Fabrizio Romano has reported on X, formerly known as Twitter, that Besiktas have agreed a deal to sign Abraham this summer. It has been claimed that the Turkish club will pay €20million (£17million) to sign the 27-year-old this summer.
Once a deal for Abraham to join Besiktas is completed, the buyback clause included in the move to Roma will no longer be available to Chelsea. As a result, this is likely the last chance that the Blues will have to re-sign Abraham should they wish to bring the striker back to Stamford Bridge.
Since leaving Chelsea, Abraham has scored 37 goals in 120 appearances for Roma. The striker spent last season on loan at AC Milan, where he 10 goals across all competitions, and now looks set to leave Italy four years after his move from Chelsea.
