Aston Villa lhave agreed on a profit-making sale in a last-ditch attempt to raise some funds ahead of the profit and sustainability rules (PSR) deadline.

The Premier League side have agreed a deal with Coventry City to sell Kaine Kesler-Hayden for a fee of around £3.5million.

He has been given the green light to undergo a medical and complete the formalities of the transfer.

The 22-year-old made 44 Championship appearances on loan at Preston last season and was named their player of the year.

Finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider that Villa are short on complying with PSR, and need sales before the end of June.

The club could also complete the sale of Barry with negotiations with a number of clubs believed to be close to securing an agreement.

Villa are working against the clock to raise funds before the 30th June accounting cut-off.

Unai Emery’s side were cruelly denied Champions League football at the end of last season by a major refereeing mistake in their game against Manchester United.

The decision cost Villa an estimated £200million as a result of not qualifying for Europe’s elite competition, plunging them into financial disarray.

Man United ready to open Martinez talks after Onana deal

Meanwhile, Man United are reportedly prepared to open formal talks over a deal to sign Emiliano Martinez after Andre Onana is sold.

That is according to their former chief scout, Mick Brown, who claims that the 32-year-old is Ruben Amorim’s top goalkeeper target.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider United will accept cut-price offers for Onana, with Ligue 1 outfit Monaco emerging as one of the interested parties.

Villa are open to cashing in on Martinez and are inviting talks, but no move will be made by the Red Devils until they sell their current shot-stopper.

Onana moved to Old Trafford in 2023 from Inter Milan, but has failed to impress during his time in Manchester.
