NBA player under investigation for allegedly gambling on games

UNDATED (WKRC) - Malik Beasley, 28, is under investigation by the U.S. District Attorney’s office for alleged gambling on NBA games and prop bets, ESPN and New York Post reported.

The investigation reportedly stems from unusual betting patterns detected by a prominent U.S. sportsbook around January 2024, when Beasley was with the Milwaukee Bucks.

NYP reported that Beasley's attorney, Steve Haney, emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed.

"An investigation is not a charge," said Haney. "Malik is afforded the same right of the presumption of innocence as anyone else under the U.S. Constitution. As of now, he has not been charged with anything."

The investigation has impacted Beasley's contract negotiations with the Pistons. Talks on a three-year, $42 million contract have been paused, ESPN reported.
