Evangelos Marinakis is ready to spend big at Nottingham Forest as he wants to transform the club into regular contenders for European spots.

Marinakis will hand Nuno Espirito Santo a substantial budget, but he is mindful of PSR limits, which have plagued him previously.

Forest are close to making Igor Jesus their first signing of the summer and his Botafogo teammate Jair Cunha is also in talks to make a switch to the City Ground.

After Timothy Weah rejected a move, Nottingham Forest quickly turned their attention to another standout performer in Serie A.

Earlier this week, Forest made contact with AC Milan over a deal to sign Yunus Musah, who has been made available by the Italian giants.

Now, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, the East Midlanders are readying a £21m bid for the former Arsenal youngster.

Marinakis has made no secret of his desire to make statement additions, and this would certainly fall into that category.

It’s being reported that Wolves are also willing to meet Milan’s valuation, however, Forest will surely hold the advantage as they have European football on the horizon.

Napoli are also circling.

Musah is statistically one of Europe’s best dribblers

Musah plies his trade as a box-to-box midfielder but can also play off as a number 10 and even on the wing.

The 22-year-old is exceptionally gifted and according to FBref data, he ranks in the top four per cent for progressive carries per 90 compared to his positional peers across Europe.

Musah also sits in the top six per cent for successful take-ons, further amplifying how elite his dribbling abilities are.

The 47-cap USA international would bring a unique profile to Espirito Santo’s midfield, and one that’d certainly suit the Premier League.

It looks like there is serious legs to this deal, with Forest evidently shopping in Serie A.
