Manchester United have secured the future of exciting youngster Jayden Ngwashi.
The Manchester Evening News reported last month that Ngwashi was attracting interest from European sides, but he is set to sign a scholarship this week to commit his future to United.
Two Premier League clubs also showed an interest in Ngwashi, but the highly rated youngster was convinced by the development pitch presented to him and decided to stay in Manchester.
United typically host a celebration event at Old Trafford for the latest intake of scholars, which is recognition of their achievement, and Ngwashi will be among those who attend.
Academy staff discussed a pathway to the first-team with Ngwashi and his family during discussions.
Ngwashi made his league debut for the Under-18s at the beginning of March and was handed his debut for the Under-21s just a few weeks later, which proves how highly he is rated.
The 16-year-old is a natural centre-back and he is seen as a youngster with high potential.
Ngwashi's passing ability is exceptional and he's a ball-playing defender who is a huge asset to build-up play. His stature is impressive and he is considered a potential future star.
Ruben Amorim has given more chances to academy players in recent months and Ngwashi will look to progress in the U21 set-up this season after deciding to remain in Manchester.
Ngwashi has already represented youth teams for Italy and England, although he will not have to pledge his allegiance to a nation until later in his career. He represented England's Under-17s in February.
