Liverpool will be looking to sign a new centre-back this summer, having seen Jarell Quansah all but complete his move to Bayer Leverkusen - and Fabrizio Romano has revealed in his GIVEMESPORT transfer newsletter that the homegrown starlet may be replaced in defence, with a move for Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi not being ruled out via a swap deal for one of their current squad.
The Reds have already completed three separate transfers in the form of Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez this summer, with the club having only spent £11million last summer on Juventus attacker Federico Chiesa - whilst Valencia stopper Giorgi Mamardashvili has also joined their ranks, replacing second-choice goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, who has moved to Brentford.

But Arne Slot won't be done there. A new striker is in their sights should Darwin Nunez or Diogo Jota depart the club, with the former having been touted for a move to Napoli - and with Quansah's imminent exit, that means that a centre-back is needed.

Guehi, entering the last 12 months of his contract, has been touted for a move to various English clubs with his deal running out at Selhurst Park, with Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea among the others interested in a move for his services, as well as Arsenal as late as this week.
However, Liverpool have also been linked - and with a fair amount of their budget being spent, Romano believes that they could use a player-plus-cash deal to land the England international, although it remains to be seen who will come in should that be an avenue they venture down. He wrote in his GIVEMESPORT transfer newsletter:
"They could but this is not something happening now. It’s not at that stage of the conversation yet."
Arsenal's search for a centre-back has seen them close in on a move for Valencia starlet Cristhian Mosquera. The Gunners are shortly set to complete two separate transfers in the form of Mosquera and Martin Zubimendi from the Spanish top-flight, having agreed personal terms with the former as a deal looks close to completion - and so not only are centre-back positions sorted in north London, but a huge chunk of their budget has been spent on needed arrivals.
With a winger and striker still needed, that means there is one less team in the race for Guehi - which Liverpool could try to exploit. Guehi has featured in 132 Premier League games for Palace, showing the experience and talent needed to make the step-up to the Champions League.
