Liverpool’s search for a new center-back has taken another step forward, and once again, the name at the top of their list is Marc Guehi.
The Crystal Palace defender remains a top target, and the transfer buzz isn’t slowing down any time soon.
Fabrizio Romano, the go-to man for all things transfers, gave a fresh update this week. “Marc Guehi remains high on Liverpool list as new centre back, not the only option but contacts continue,” he revealed.
A new round of talks is expected soon, as the Reds keep pushing behind the scenes.

Guehi’s current deal with Palace ends in 12 months. That has clubs sniffing around, and Liverpool seems to be first in line. However, the price tag — rumored to be around £40–45 million — could play a big role in how this one plays out.
Liverpool could walk away now and wait to get him on a free next year, but that’s a risky game when other clubs are watching closely.

Why Liverpool wants Marc Guehi?
Liverpool aren’t just adding names to the squad — they’re building for the long term. With Jarell Quansah off to Bayer Leverkusen and Ibrahima Konate possibly heading out next summer, the Reds are short at the back.
Guehi ticks a lot of boxes. He’s homegrown, experienced in the Premier League, and has earned England caps. He’s also captained Palace in big games and has shown maturity well beyond his years.
Sure, there are concerns about his aerial strength, but Liverpool have done their homework.
Guehi could fit right into Arne Slot’s plans, especially if the club continues with their fast, high-line style. With Konaté possibly giving “exit vibes,” Liverpool can’t afford to be caught short.
As the summer window heats up, this is one to watch. Another meeting is around the corner, and if talks go well, Guehi might just be swapping Selhurst Park for Anfield before the new season kicks off.
