Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s wife has said her husband “gave everything” at Evertonafter his departure from the club was announced. The striker, whose contract was due to expire, confirmed his future will be away from the club in an emotional post shared on social media yesterday.
In the statement, the 28-year-old thanked the club’s supporters and the managers he had worked with at Goodison Park, while explaining he believed now was the right time to move on. It was a decision, he wrote, that had been made with his family.
Calvert-Lewin and his now-wife Sandra had their first child together in August 2023. Then, in June of last year, the Everton striker revealed he had proposed to Sandra. They married in March of this year.
After Calvert-Lewin issued his statement yesterday, Sandra sent her support on her Instagram page. She posted a picture of her husband as a schoolboy and praised his career on Merseyside.
Sandra said: “I’ve seen every part of this journey - the early mornings, the late nights, the battles you fought on and off the pitch. Everton wasn’t just a club for you, it was home.
“Leaving it behind was one of the hardest decisions you’ve ever made, and I know how much of your heart you’re leaving there too. You gave everything — your passion, your loyalty, your whole heart.
"Through every high and low, you stayed true to yourself and to the club you loved so deeply. I’m so proud of the man you are today.
"This chapter might be coming to an end, but I’m excited for everything that’s ahead. A new beginning, new memories, and all of it side by side — just like always.”
The post received more than 1,000 likes and many left messages of support to the family in the comments section. One said: “He knew what it was to be an Evertonian. Best wishes to you all, he can go with his head held high. Once a blue, always a blue.”
Another said: “Thanks for all your efforts, hard work and mental resilience Dominic over the years for our club. Wishing you every success & happiness in your future endeavours.” A third person added: “Thank you for everything and wishing the family all the best in whatever comes next.”
