Aston Villa are increasingly confident that they will be able to navigate around a breach of Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), sources have told Football Insider.
It is believed the Midlands giants expect to only have to sell fringe players to ensure they raise the funds needed to avoid punishment.
Finance expert Stefan Borson has exclusively told Football Insider that Villa are short on complying with PSR, and need sales before the end of June.
Unai Emery’s side were cruelly denied Champions League football at the end of last season by a major refereeing mistake in their game against Man United and will miss out on the huge revenues they generated in the 2024-25 campaign.

Villa will only sell fringe players
Football Insider exclusively revealed last week (24 June), that Villa are ready to sell Leander Dendoncker, Louie Barry and Kaine Kesler-Hayden before the end of June.
Kesler-Hayden has now agreed to join Coventry for a fee of around £3.5million, and the club will bank that as pure profit due to the fact that the defender came through the academy.

Sources say Aston Villa now believe that they won’t have to sacrifice any of their first-team squad in order to comply with the financial regulations.
Barry and Dendoncker could also be on the move before the 30 June accounting cut-off.

Man United to open Martinez talks after Onana deal
Meanwhile, Man United are reportedly prepared to open formal talks over a deal to sign Emiliano Martinez after Andre Onana is sold.
That is according to their former chief scout, Mick Brown, who claims that the 32-year-old is Ruben Amorim’s top goalkeeper target.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider United will accept cut-price offers for Onana, with Ligue 1 outfit Monaco emerging as one of the interested parties.
Villa are open to cashing in on Martinez and are inviting talks, but no move will be made by the Red Devils until they sell their current shot-stopper.
Onana moved to Old Trafford in 2023 from Inter Milan, but has failed to impress during his time in Manchester.
