Football - Defender set to 'undergo medical' after Coventry City 'agree fee' for Aston Villa…

COVENTRY City are set to make their second signing of the summer transfer window according to reports.

The Telegraph’s John Percy is reporting Coventry have agreed a fee with Aston Villa to sign young defender Kaine Kesler-Hayden.

Percy reports Coventry will play a fee of £3.5million to sign the right-back who has a medical planned with the Sky Blues later today.

The 22-year-old spent the 2024/25 campaign on loan at City’s Championship rivals Preston North End.

He made 51 appearances for Preston in all competitions last season as he scored two goals and provided three assists.

Kesler-Hayden won Preston’s player and young player of the year awards last term.

He has made three Premier League appearances for Villa and also featured for the club in the UEFA Conference League.

He has also spent time on loan at Swindon Town, Milton Keynes Dons, Huddersfield Town and Plymouth Argyle.
