Striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has confirmed that he will leave Everton upon the expiry of his contract. Newcastle United have been linked with him.
It has gone right down to the wire, but the England international has finally announced that he will leave the Toffees when his contract expires on Monday.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin spent nine years at Everton, finding his best form under legendary manager Carlo Ancelotti. However, the last couple of years have been tough for him on the pitch, scoring just a handful of goals before losing his place in the starting line-up late last season.
Newcastle United have a long-standing interest in Calvert-Lewin, having been close to signing him in 2024. However, the deal collapsed before the PSR deadline and he remained at Everton.
In January, reports suggested Newcastle were interested in signing Calvert-Lewin for free in the summer. They now have their opportunity to do that after his announcement. While Newcastle remain keen, it has been revealed how many clubs are actually interested in the 28-year-old.

Should he join, Calvert-Lewin will be a likely replacement for Callum Wilson, who is also out of contract on Monday. However, there has been no news on whether he will stay on with the Magpies for another season.
It looks like the striker could stay in the Premier League next season, with a plethora of English clubs interested in signing him.
However, there appears to be even more than that, as Mark McAdam revealed on Sky Sports how many clubs are actually keen on signing Calvert-Lewin this summer.

“Where can he go? Well, pretty much anywhere he wants. There will be 10-15 teams in the Premier League and Europe asking, ‘is Calvert-Lewin one for us? Is he someone we can afford?”. McAdam said on 29 June, 7:13pm.

The 28-year-old made a long and emotional post on Instagram confirming his exit, and the comments section was flooded with Everton players who were saying their goodbyes and wishing him well.
It remains to be seen whether Calvert-Lewin will make a quick decision over his future or will wait to speak with all the interested parties before coming to a conclusion.
Despite that, Geordie Boot Boys were told that Newcastle have a good chance of signing Calvert-Lewin. We understand that Eddie Howe is a big fan of the striker, who has been linked with a move to Tyneside since 2021.
One thing worth noting is that Calvert-Lewin is hoping for a big payday at whichever club he decides to join after Everton. Additionally, the Englishman is eager to be tied down to a long-term contract at his new club.
