Jonathan David celebrates scoring for Canada at the Gold Cup
As temperatures soar across Greater Manchester, Manchester United's current squad are preparing to return from all corners of the globe for pre-season.
Tuesday marks the start of July and a month which brings plenty of excitement for supporters. Due to the season beginning in mid-August, will play their first pre-season fixture against Leeds in Stockholm on July 19.
Before they step out onto the pitch in Sweden in just over two weeks' time, United will be hopeful of completing some important business. Fortunately, the beginning of July also means that free agents will leave their current clubs and will be available to make moves elsewhere.
One of those set to see their current contract expire on July 1 is Jonathan David. The Canada international has already confirmed that he will be leaving Lille for a new challenge this summer and at 25, he will be seen as a viable option for many clubs.
have been linked with David previously and his 25 goals this season, including seven in ten during the , will appeal to the Reds. His next club is not currently confirmed although Juventus are thought to be pushing hard for his signature.
Over the weekend, suggested that David's agents were pushing for £13m in the deal which is thought to be difficult for the Turin club to sanction. So, with that uncertainty ever-present, United could look to jump in and snap up a talent who is worth a gamble.
The other problem which is perhaps not a priority right now, but could soon become one, is in left wing-back. Patrick Dorgu was signed in January and has done well considering the difficult circumstances he found the club in.
However, there is a lack of support around him to enjoy greater squad depth. Question marks still remain surrounding Luke Shaw's fitness but, even at 100 per cent, it is unclear whether he fits that role perfectly.
Therefore, a good addition could be Tyrick Mitchell. The full-back was considered an option for United in January and on a free, he would be an even better addition.

He will be a free agent on Tuesday too unless something changes. Unusually, there has been little talk surrounding his future online albeit there is a push from Fenerbahce fans for their team to snap him up.
That being said, even the lure of working under would not be enough to stop United signing the 25-year-old if they want him. With money tight and players needing to be sold, concluding deals for the likes of David and Mitchell could ease tensions for United fans with the pre-season schedule looming large.
