Liverpool in talks to sign England international

Premier League champions Liverpool have been busy so far this summer, strengthening Arne Slot’s squad as they look to defend their crown next term.

The Reds cruised to the top flight title last season during Slot’s first campaign in charge, and the Merseyside outfit have since added Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez to their squad.

Liverpool begin their pre-season preparations with a friendly against Preston North End next month, before embarking on a tour of Asia.

They will then face FA Cup holders Crystal Palace in the Community Shield at Wembley in August, before the Premier League season starts.

In the meantime, it has emerged that Liverpool are eyeing a move for an Eagles star.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Premier League champions are set for more talks over a possible deal for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.

Romano claims that Guehi is one of a number of players that Liverpool have identified on their shortlist of possible targets as they hunt for a new central defender.

Guehi joined Palace from Chelsea in 2021, having played just twice for the Blues at senior level.

Since moving to Selhurst Park, however, the centre-back has established himself as one of the best in the English top flight in his position.

In total he has played more than 150 times for the South London side across all competitions, as well as becoming club captain.

Romano claims that Liverpool are set for more talks with Palace about a potential move for the defender, who is under contract until the end of next season.
