Mac Jones, newly signed quarterback with the San Francisco 49ers, was recently asked by ESPN about his opinion of playing with the team under head coach Kyle Shanahan. Jones had nothing but great things to say about this, and also reiterated the fact that he has chosen to play for the 49ers on his own as a free agent. From his words, it definitely looks like Jones is really excited to be part of the 49ers for the upcoming season.
In the previous season, Jones played for the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he managed only eight scores for the team. And even before that, when the quarterback was part of the New England Patriots, it was clear that Jones did not get too many opportunities to showcase his worth. Despite the 49ers already relying on Brock Purdy as a starting quarterback, Jones seems optimistic that the team will allow him to display his skill set.
“The world works in mysterious ways. I’m glad to be back here and learning from a great group of guys, and that’s players and coaches. So, you go where you go in the draft, right? You don’t get a lot of choice over that, but I’m definitely excited to be here now.” Mac Jones spoke to ESPN about his decision to play for the San Francisco 49ers in the upcoming NFL season.

Mac Jones, as a free agent quarterback, signed a deal with the San Francisco 49ers, for a period of two years which is worth $7 million, back in March this year. However, Jones is not the only one who is happy about his presence in the 49ers. Head coach Kyle Shanahan himself revealed that he has been impressed by Jones’ approach to the game in the training camps with the team.

Mac Jones Has Plenty To Prove If He Wants To Be Chosen Over Brock Purdy
Meanwhile, Mac Jones has a lot of homework to do before the San Francisco 49ers even consider his name over Brock Purdy as starting quarterback. The 49ers doled out a whopping contract extension to Purdy quite recently, which makes the quarterback one of the highest-paid in the NFL.

The 49ers will not be ready to do something similar for Jones in the future, without some major numbers from the young quarterback. Mac Jones also revealed to reporters during training camps earlier this month that he is practicing his throws so that they have better accuracy and aim, which is a big part of him proving his worth to the team.
