Fulham are “interested” in Coventry City right-back Milan van Ewijk, according to Sky Sports.
The report by the broadcaster's Transfer Centre comes on the day when the Sky Blues have been linked with a £3.5million plus move for Aston Villa’s Kaine Kesler-Hayden following the 22-year-old’s season-long loan spell at Preston where he was voted the club’s player of the year.
According to Sky Sports, they understand that Fulham have “explored the conditions of a deal” for 24-year-old Van Ewijk, who has two years left on his contract at the CBS Arena. It is not the first time the Premier League club have been linked with the Dutchman, who has also been linked with interest from Everton and Galatasaray.
The report says that right-back is a priority position for Fulham, with Kenny Tete still deciding between re-signing for the club or joining Everton. It states that the Cottagers have not given up trying to retain the full-back, whose deal expires later today (June 30), and are believed to have improved their original contract offer.
Tete is Fulham’s priority and until he makes a decision that will remain the case, it adds.
It further says that the top flight club have looked into deals for Kyle Walker-Peters - who is about to become a free agent with his Southampton contract expiring today - and Ipswich Town’s Ben Johnson in this window.
The right-back position is also a priority for Frank Lampard at City where Van Ewijk was the club’s only specialist for the position all last season when the Dutchman was virtually ever-present.
Coventry require two full-backs to compete for the right-hand berth but the sale of Van Ewijk would clearly be a way to fund the arrival of Kesler-Hayden, but leave Lampard still searching for another to come in to provide strength in depth and competition.
