West Ham need to make sales to resolve their financial issues this summer, and Mohammed Kudus looks likely to depart as a result.

Kudus endured a difficult campaign after a strong first season, and an exit now appears inevitable as he is one of the most valuable assets at the club.

West Ham’s poor squad building in recent years means that the club needs a rebuild, but they find themselves needing to sell to buy.

Arsenal and Tottenham have both been linked with Kudus, and while selling to either London rival may not go down well, a move now appears to be on the cards.

Ian Abrahams makes Kudus exit revelation

Kudus has a reported £85million release clause valid for the first 10 days of July, which can be activated by Premier League clubs.

While West Ham fans would be annoyed to see a player directly move to Spurs, a huge sale of the winger would help ease their financial situation, and allow them to bring in other players to strengthen the squad.

Broadcaster Ian Abrahams has now said that he expects Kudus to leave, and has also revealed that Spurs are “very interested” in the attacker.

Kudus scored five goals last season, and it now appears highly likely that he will depart in the summer transfer window.

“Be no surprise is Mohammed Kudus leaves West Ham this summer,” Abrahams posted on X (30 June). “I’m told Tottenham are very interested in him.”

West Ham should sell Kudus

Although a talented attacker, Kudus was inconsistent throughout last season, and has scored just two Premier League goals since January.

A sale would be the best move this summer, with Kudus also seemingly keen on an exit, but West Ham cannot allow Spurs to negotiate a lower fee.

Supporters would be alarmed if West Ham do not maximise the profits on Kudus if their bitter rivals are to be his next destination, and they should hold out for a fee close to his release clause.

Kudus joined as a high-profile addition from Ajax in 2023, and while he has produced some magical moments, West Ham would benefit from being able to complete a huge squad rebuild using the funds from his potential sale.
