Sunderland are among the Premier League clubs plotting a move for Senegalese striker Sambou Soumano. According to Football Insider, the Black Cats, Brentford and Burnley are the frontrunners for the 24-year-old, following his impressive form at Lorient last season.
Soumano cracked 14 goals in just 11 starts to spearhead Regis Le Bris’ former club to a successful promotion to Ligue 1.
Soumano’s clinical finishing and relentless work-rate has brought him onto the radar of that trio of Premier League clubs as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of next season.
Lorient are aware of the growing interest in Soumano and they face a battle to keep hold of him as he is entering the final year of his contract.

Soumano’s standout displays have also caught the eye of Senegal head coach Pape Thiaw, with the forward set to be called up to the national team for the next set of fixtures.
Thiaw believes Soumano is as good as current first-choice striker for the Lions of Teranga, Nicolas Jackson.
Both Sunderland and Burnley are bidding to become the first promoted side in three years to avoid immediate relegation from the Premier League, and they will need firepower up front to achieve their aims.
Another player on Sunderland’s radar is said to be Amad Diallo’s brother, Hamed Traore.
According to the print version of Corriere Dello Sport, Sunderland are interested in Bournemouth’s attacking midfielder.
The Italian newspaper say Sunderland, Fiorentina, Parma, Sassuolo and Marseille are all interested in the player following Bournemouth’s decision to refresh the squad ahead of the new season.
The report claims Bournemouth are asking around £13.5m for the 25-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Auxerre and the previous season on loan at Napoli.
Meanwhile, Mattéo Guendouzi is reportedly garnering interest from Sunderland, likely due to his connection with manager Régis Le Bris, who had coached him at Lorient. Lazio are said to be considering the sale of key players owing to financial constraints.
The French midfielder, who appeared in 37 matches and scored one goal in Serie A last season, is among those who might depart from Lazio.
According to RMC radio, Sunderland’s interest could be linked to Le Bris’ past experience with Guendouzi during their time together in Lorient’s youth and reserve teams.
