It's not even training camp but this Eagles rival has doomed themselves at key area

The Philadelphia Eagles fanbase can not only take solace in the fact that they can flash their Super Bowl rings in everyone else's faces for the next few months, but they can also laugh at the misfortune of a Dallas Cowboys team who saw their window slam shut recently.

While the Cowboys will try in vein to get this roster to the championship contender tier, there are a few fatal flaws on both sides of the ball that could doom this team. The big issue once again is the general lack of support around quarterback Dak Prescott.

Per Saad Yousef of The Athletic, the lack of quality running back depth on Dallas' roster at the moment could be a destabilizing error that takes the Eagles' historical rival completely out of the postseason picture. The ceiling and floor are incredibly low in this group.

Considering that new head coach Brian Schottenheimer has a history of relying on conservative offenses that feature a heavy ground game, he is going to try everything in his power to get the most out of this group. That doesn't mean that he will find success in that area, however.

Cowboys lack of RB depth is great news for Eagles fans

The proverbial leader in the clubhouse at the Cowboys' RB position at the moment is veteran Javonte Williams, who his fresh off a terrible season with the Denver Broncos and has never been the best big-play threat throughout his career. Former Eagles running back Miles Sanders has torpedoed his value since leaving Philly for Carolina and Dallas.

The 2025 NFL Draft was regarded as exceptionally deep at running back, but Dallas waited until the fifth round to pick up a player at that position in polarizing Texas running back Jaydon Blue. Dallas' menagerie of lottery tickets pales in comparison to what Philly has.

Even after losing Kenneth Gainwell in free agency, it's hard to shake a stick at a superstar in Saquon Barkley who ran for 2,000 yards and could have broken Eric Dickerson's single-season record had he not sat Week 18 out in the name of preserving his body for the playoffs.

Philly will be set up for another run at a Super Bowl, while Dallas will try in vain to convince themselves that a thoroughly average roster is capable of actually doing something when the calendar flips over to January.
