**Newcastle United have missed out on another one of their top targets this summer, with Brighton and Hove Albion's Joao Pedro opting to sign for Chelsea.**
After 'priority' transfer target Bryan Mbeumo priced himself out of a move to Tyneside with outrageous wage demands, Newcastle turned their attention to the Brighton forward, but the Brazilian seemingly only had eyes for Chelsea.
It came as a blow to Newcastle, who must now reassess their transfer targets, but we're confident that the Magpies have plenty of other players in mind to fill the roles they need this summer.
TalkSPORT host Jeff Stelling believes the answer is now staring them in the face.
Jeff Stelling urges Newcastle to consider a move for Jack Grealish
------------------------------------------------------------------
Having been linked with the Manchester City star in the last couple of transfer windows, Stelling believes Newcastle should seriously look at bringing in Jack Grealish.
> “If I’m Newcastle now, this is off the top of my head. He’s not exactly the same player, but if I’m Newcastle, I’m looking at Jack Grealish and thinking ‘what a job he can do for us’.
>
> “I’ve no idea how much he’s gonna cost and obviously comes with big, big wages.”
We don't see a place for Jack Grealish at Newcastle
---------------------------------------------------
Jack Grealish is on a reported £300,000-a-week at Manchester City, which is almost double what Newcastle's current highest earner, Bruno Guimaraes is on, so unless Grealish is open to halving his wages, this one still looks like an absolute non-starter.
The only way we can see Jack Grealish moving to Newcastle is on loan with Man City still contributing to his wages, but there will come a point where Grealish will have to take that pay cut.
As much as we have confidence in Eddie Howe to get the best out of Grealish again, we just don't see him fitting in at Newcastle and, as a left winger, he plays in a position we simply don't need any additions.
