Report: Chelsea could be about to do Real Betis a big favour after beating them in Conference League final

This year’s Conference League final was contested between Chelsea and Real Betis, with the former coming out on top.

Chelsea beat Betis 4-1 after goals from Enzo Fernandez, Nicolas Jackson, Jadon Sancho and Moises Caicedo.

Sancho is no longer at the club, while Jackson could also be set for a departure. It is being reported that Chelsea will sell Jackson for the right price.

One defender at Stamford Bridge may be about to leave as well, with Manuel Pellegrini’s Betis side being a potential destination for him.

Chelsea could allow Aaron Anselmino to join Real Betis on loan

Aaron Anselmino is currently with the Chelsea squad at the Club World Cup and even got to make his debut there.

The centre-back came on for a couple of minutes during the Blues’ 4-1 win against Benfica in the last 16.

Anselmino, however, is unlikely to remain with Enzo Maresca‘s first-team group for the 2025/26 season. According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea are expected to send the 20-year-old on loan and Betis have already made an enquiry about signing him.

Anselmino is not the only young Chelsea player who is set to leave the club on a temporary basis this summer.

It is believed that Chelsea and Maresca’s plan for Kendry Paez, for example, is for him to join Strasbourg on loan. Paez would reportedly prefer to stay at Chelsea, but that does not appear to be a choice for the Ecuadorian.

Why Chelsea want to loan out Aaron Anselmino

TEAMtalk’s report says that Chelsea want Anselmino to join another club temporarily so he can gain experience and regular game time.

That is unlikely to happen at Stamford Bridge next term, with Maresca already having Levi Colwill, Wesley Fofana, Tosin Adarabioyo, Trevoh Chalobah and Benoit Badiashile.

The Blues could also bring in another centre-half before the transfer window closes. Chelsea have been linked with Piero Hincapie and several other names this month. A move to Betis or elsewhere, then, makes a lot of sense if you are Anselmino.
