Liverpool could accept£40 million offers for defender

Liverpool have been one of the Premier League’s busiest clubs in the transfer market so far this summer.

Arne Slot guided the Reds to the top flight title last season and the Merseyside outfit have since made three huge signings.

Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz have both arrived from German giants Bayer Leverkusen, while left-back Milos Kerkez has also joined Slot’s squad.

Liverpool have also lost full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, who departed to join Spanish giants Real Madrid, but Slot will be happy with the deals they have completed so far this summer.

It appears, though, that the Merseyside outfit may soon allow another defender to leave Anfield.

According to Football Insider, the Reds could accept an offer in the region of £40-50 million for centre-back Ibrahima Konate this summer.

Konate, 26, will soon enter into the final year of his current contract and has been heavily linked with a move away from Anfield.

It is claimed that the Frenchman has rejected Liverpool’s opening contract offer, sparking fear at the club that he could follow in the footsteps of Alexander-Arnold and depart the club as a free agent next summer.

Having joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig in 2021, Konate has now played more than 130 times for his current club and featured regularly for Slot’s side as they won the Premier League title last term.

Despite the defender’s importance to Liverpool, the report claims that both Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are interested in the player who could run down his contract and leave Anfield for free at the end of next season.

As well as European giants Real Madrid and PSG, Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal are also said to be monitoring the France international’s situation.
