CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Pittsburgh Steelers all-in offseason continued on Monday, agreeing to a trade for Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey.
Ramsey broke the news on his X account.
Pittsburgh is giving up safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and a 2027 fith-round pick and will also receive tight end Jonnu Smith and a 2027 seventh round pick.
The Dolphins and Ramsey had been seeking a trade partner this offseason for the seven-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro and the Steelers finally pried him away.
Ramsey, who turns 31 in October, spent the last two seasons in Miami after establishing himself as one of the league’s best corners, first with the Jaguars and then the Rams. He was a first-team All-Pro in back-to-back years in LA in 2020 and 2021 after the Rams acquired him in a mid-season trade.
Jacksonville selected him with the fifth overall pick in the 2016 draft and he was an All-Pro by 2017.
He has 24 interceptions in 135 career games. He had five interceptions in 27 games with Miami.
The trade comes three weeks after the Steelers officially signed quarterback Aaron Rodgers to a one-year deal that could be worth up to $19.5 million. His signing followed months of speculation that he would join the team and he said on the Pat McAfee show after signing that he was “pretty sure this is it. That’s why we just did a one-year deal. ... What better place to finish than in one of the cornerstone franchises of the NFL.”
Pittsburgh also acquired wide receiver D.K. Metcalf, sending the No. 52 pick in the 2025 draft to the Seahawks. Seattle traded that pick to Tennessee, who selected UCLA defensive end Oluwafemi Oladejo.
Fitzpatrick is the second high-profile Steeler to be sent away this offseason. They traded wide receiver George Pickens to the Cowboys for a 2026 third-round pick and 2027 fifth while also sending Dallas a 2027 sixth.
