One of the longest-running rumours so far this transfer window has been Manchester City’s admiration for Newcastle United’s Tino Livramento.
Having cemented himself as a first team player and future England star since joining us, it would take a seismic amount of money for Pep Guardiola to poach our player.
However, while Toon chiefs seem adamant that Tino won’t be heading to Manchester any time soon, we have just lost a promising Academy to City’s acclaimed system.
According to [Fabrizio Romano](https://x.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1939424546156654688), Newcastle Under-15s star Ethan Fullen is set to join Man City’s academy this summer.
Writing on X, Romano reported “Manchester City are closing in on one more deal for the Academy: Ethan Fullen set to join from Newcastle U15.”
”Seen as huge talent, Fullen joins Man City with details being sorted.”
So far, no compensation package has been listed between ourselves and City, but with how well-regarded Man City’s academy is, this may feel like a blow to our youth development system.
During his time with the young Magpies, Fullen’s biggest contribution came when, at just 13-years-old, he scored in a 7-3 defeat for the U-15s against J-League Under 15 Select XI last summer
The Fullen transfer is very reminiscent of our own pursuit and acquisition of former City youngster Alfie Harrison.
Back in February 2024, we signed the attacking midfielder in what was described as a major coup at the time.
Given the flashes of potential Fullen looks to have shown, and with how highly-regarded the likes of Romano view him, could this be a departure we may soon regret in the couple of years?
