Gordon Hill, the former Manchester United and England winger, has been named as a patron of the newly launched Southall FC Independent Supporters Association (SISA).
Hill, who began his career at Southall before winning the FA Cup with United in 1977 and becoming their top scorer for two successive seasons, returns to support the club where his journey began.
SISA chairman Dave Considine said: “We decided to set up Southall FC Independent Supporters Association as a positive and supportive community for Southall fans. We are honoured that Gordon Hill has accepted our invitation to be a patron.”
The Southall FC Independent Supporters Association was created by Dave Considine, who is its chair and was previously Southall FC secretary, and Gary Drew, who is vice chair and is Southall FC’s club historian.
The supporters association, which held its first meeting last Friday (27 June 2025), has received backing from the Football Supporters’ Association as it seeks to grow local support and help restore Southall FC’s presence within its community.
Founded in 1871, Southall FC has a distinguished history, including an appearance in the 1925 FA Amateur Cup final and a run to the FA Vase final in 1986. Despite its rich history, the club has lacked a permanent home since vacating Western Road in 1992, forced to ground share for over three decades.
A breeding ground for talent, Southall has produced England internationals Les Ferdinand and Alan Devonshire, and counted cultural icons like reggae singer Maxi Priest and Justin Fashanu – the first openly gay professional footballer – among its former players. TV astrologer Russell Grant numbers among its celebrity fans.
