Dominic Calvert-Lewin announces Everton departure after nine year stay - Everton News
Everton hero Dominic Calvert-Lewin is now a free agent. The striker’s contract expires at the end of June, and he took to social media to announce his decision to leave the club after a nine year stay.
Calvert-Lewin joined Everton from Sheffield in 2016, and went on to make 273 appearances in all competitions, scoring 71 goals. He earned 11 caps for England during this time as well, scoring four goals for the Three Lions.
His best season came during the 2020/21 season where he scored 16 Premier League goals in 33 appearances. Injuries have been an issue throughout the player’s career though, and last season he was limited to just 26 league appearances and missed over three months between January and May.

He scored three goals and mostly had to settle for a role behind leading striker Beto, but his presence in the Everton squad remained integral. As reported by Sky Sports, Calvert-Lewin drafted his farewell message to the Everton faithful.

Several Premier League clubs showed interest in Calvert-Lewin in the past. Newcastle, Manchester United, and Chelsea all inquired about the player earlier this year as his contract winded down and could be enticed by an experience Premier League striker for free.
AC Milan was also circling the player in January as he had six months remaining on his contract at that time.
At 28, the player could still command a longer term contract and won’t rule out returning to the England fold. He’ll be hoping his injury woes are behind him as he enters a new chapter.
