Not everyone is happy about the Miami Dolphins trading All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey and Pro Bowl tight end Jonnu Smith to the Pittsburgh Steelers. While Ramsey was certainly going to be traded, Smith attempted to remain in Miami on a new deal.
That wasn't the case, as both players got traded to the Steelers, prompting a response from former Dolphins star Raheem Mostert. The former Miami Pro Bowler took umbrage with both Ramsey and Smtih being traded, and took a massive shot at his former team on social media.
Moster took to X where he stated, "Hot take: Be a Pro-bowler on the Dolphins, get treated like sh*t. Happy for my guys though! GO BALL OUT!!"
Apparently, Mostert is upset that the Dolphins traded him away after he achieved his lone Pro Bowl nod with the team in 2023.
Mostert began to take a step back on the Dolphins when they drafted De'Von Achane in 2023. Achane began to immediately show flashes of brilliance in his rookie season, before an injury sidelined him for six games.
Despite the injury, Achane secured 800 yards, eight touchdowns, and a staggering 7.8 yards per carry average.
Mostert, on the other hand, had 1,012 rushing yards, 18 touchdowns, 175 receiving yards, and three receiving touchdowns. His 21 touchdowns led the league in 2023.
Despite a massive Pro Bowl year, Achane began to overtake Mostert in 2024. Achane again showcased his skillset on the ground, while Mostert was used sparingly.
Mostert ended the 2024 season with 278 rushing yards and two touchdowns. He also fumbled the ball twice and lost it both times.
The fumbles may have been the final straw for the Dolphins, as Achane became the premier running back, bringing in 907 rushing yards, six touchdowns, 592 receiving yards, and six receiving touchdowns.
Mostert was released by the Dolphins in February and has since signed a deal with the Las Vegas Raiders.
It is understandable why Mostert is so upset with the Dolphins after he dropped 21 touchdowns in 2023, and followed that up with barely being used in the running game the following season. His social media shot is understood, and now he has a chance to return to proper form with the Raiders.
