Former North Scott High School standout Tytan Anderson has signed an NBA Summer League contract with the New Orleans Pelicans.
Anderson is coming off a banner season at the University of Northern Iowa, averaging 15.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.1 steals per game, while shooting 57.7% from the floor.
Anderson had six games of 20 points or more and was named to the All-Missouri Valley Conference First-Team. He was also named to the conference’s All-Defensive Team and was selected as the MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
The 6-foot-6, 205-pounder from Eldridge finished his career with 1,383 points, 800 rebounds, 220 assists, 149 steals and 58 blocked shots, finishing as only the fourth player in program history with more than 1,000 points, 700 rebounds and 200 assists. The others are Seth Tuttle, Eric Coleman and Ron Lemons.

Anderson is one of only nine players in MVC history to finish with more than 1,200 points, 750 rebounds, 200 assists and 125 steals, joining Larry Bird, Hersey Hawkins, J.J. Anderson, Seth Tuttle, Marcus Timmons, Herb Johnson and Matt Renn.
Anderson earned All-MVC Honor Roll recognition three consecutive years.
The NBA Summer League begins on July 10 in Las Vegas. The Pelicans’ first game is on July 10 against the Minnesota Timberwolves at 2:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN2.
The Pelicans’ other games are scheduled for July 12 (vs. L.A. Lakers, 7:30 p.m., ESPN2); July 15 (Portland Trailblazers, 9 p.m., ESPN) and July 16 (Oklahoma City Thunder, 8:30 p.m., NBATV). New Orleans will also play on July 18, 19 or 20, with the final date to be determined.
