Rasmus Hojlund has endured a difficult adjustment to life in the Premier League, with his struggles becoming more apparent over the past season.

The Danish striker has failed to adapt to the physicality in England, often finding himself outmuscled and outthought by opposition defenders.

After a promising debut campaign saw him score 16 goals in all competitions, Hojlund’s output dropped significantly.

He netted just 10 in 52 appearances last season, with only four coming in the Premier League.

It has been said that members at Carrington have lost huge confidence in Hojlund, with coaching staff now seeing him as ‘on trial’, in order to revive his United career.

According to The Athletic’s report from Laurie Whitwell, Manchester United are now open to selling the 22-year-old.

Even if it means accepting less than his current book value of just under £45 million.

That valuation is key to United’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) calculations, with a permanent sale offering much-needed income to balance the books.

Inter Milan remain firmly interested in Hojlund.

The Italian giants have had a bid recently rejected for the striker.

While the striker wants to stay at Old Trafford, discussions are ongoing between the clubs, according to The Athletic.

United’s willingness to sanction a cut-price exit sums up both their shifting priorities in attack and the financial constraints facing them this summer.

Ollie Watkins was considered the summer Hojlund was signed.

The Englishman remains on the radar at United, with Villans recently being contacted by the Red Devils.

However, Erik ten Hag chose to sign Hojlund over Watkins, dismissing the Premier League proven option.

Meanwhile targets like Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen are seen as unlikely targets, due to the wage demands with Osimhen in particular.

Gyokeres is also said to be more likely to join Arsenal.

Hojlund’s future however, continues to appear uncertain.

With United actively discussing alternatives, a summer exit certainly wouldn’t come as a surprise.
