Manchester United’s summer rebuild is proving more complicated than expected, as the club juggles fresh arrivals with necessary departures.

The loss of Liam Delap to Chelsea was an early setback, especially given how close United came to landing the Englishman.

Matheus Cunha’s arrival from Wolves injected some much-needed optimism, however.

Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo is also still expected to move to Old Trafford.

But with Financial Fair Play considerations looming and numerous players still earmarked to leave, United know sales are just as vital as signings.

Chelsea however, are also undergoing a mini-rebuild of their own yet again.

The Blues recently signed Jamie Bynoe-Gittens from Borussia Dortmund – a winger who was also linked with Red Devils.

However, that hasn’t stopped them in looking into further attacking additions.

According to The Athletic’s report by Laurie Whitwell, Chelsea and Manchester United are once again in talks.

This time over both Alejandro Garnacho and Christopher Nkunku.

Discussions between the two clubs are ongoing, which could finally see a swap deal come to fruition.

It remains to be seen whether the conversations lead to formal bids.

However, with United open to change and Chelsea still unfinished with transfer activity this summer, movement is likely.

Garnacho’s future remains increasingly bleak.

Frustration has grown internally over Garnacho’s attitude, having recently been seen wearing an Aston Villa shirt.

Supporters have also lost patience with the winger’s inconsistency and social media antics.

Chelsea were admirers of the Argentine back in January but couldn’t finalise a deal, leaving the situation unresolved until now.

Nkunku meanwhile, has struggled to live up to hype in the Premier League.

The Frenchman did however, produce a stellar showing recently in the Club World Cup against Benfica.

Coming off the bench, Nkunku put Chelsea in front before playing a key part in killing the game off.

The 27-year-old was open to a move to Manchester in January window – a deal that may still happen this year.
