The NBA season has only been over for a week, and we are already on the verge of more NBA action. The summer league will kick off with the California Classic this Saturday. It’ll be the first time we get to see rookies Dylan Harper and Carter Bryant play in a San Antonio Spurs uniform. The lottery picks lead the summer roster, announced just ahead of the San Antonio Spurs’ first game on Saturday, July 5th, against the Miami Heat.
Harper and Bryant join familiar names like Harrison Ingram and Riley Minix, who were on two-way contracts for the Spurs last season. They’ll be joined by undrafted rookies Chibuzo Agbo, Cam Carter, Mouhament Diouf, Jacksen Moni, Noah Farrakhan, and Sosh Uduje.
Several Spurs summer league alumni and Austin Spurs will join the team again this year. Jameer Nelson Jr., Nate Mensah, Ibrahima Diallo, Kyle Mangas, and Osayi Osifo will suit up for the summer Spurs. Mangas is a name to watch, as he shot 46.3% from three in his 10 games for Austin last season. Keep your eyes on David Jones-Garcia, who averaged 24.5 points per game in the G League last season, and 6-5 guard Dexter Dennis, who was a good defensive player at Texas A&M.
The Spurs’ summer team will be coached by Mike Noyes, who was hired as a full-time assistant last season. He was an assistant for Kenny Trevino when he coached the summer Spurs last year.
San Antonio will play three games in the California Classic against the Heat, Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers from July 5th to July 8th. Then they’ll head to Las Vegas for the NBA 2K26 Summer League, where they’ll play the Philadelphia 76ers, Cooper Flagg and the Dallas Mavericks, the Utah Jazz, and the Charlotte Hornets from July 10-17.
If you want this writer’s two cents on the starting five, I’d go: Harper, Ingram, Bryant, Minix, Mensah. That would allow Harper to have free rein to play on the ball while giving heavy minutes to the players the Spurs have invested two-way or rookie contracts in.
We’ll learn soon enough how the Spurs will look this summer. You can catch their first game against the Heat on July 5th at 3:30 p.m. CT on FanDuel Southwest.
