Jase Richardson came off the board at No. 25 overall in the first round of the 2025 NBA Draft, becoming the Spartans' first first-round pick since Jaren Jackson Jr. in 2018.
It's hard to believe that Tom Izzo hadn't had a first-rounder in seven years, but Richardson ended the drought shortly after Max Christie was expected to in 2022. He was projected early on to go in the 15-20 range, but he slipped to the end of the first round.
Richardson did land at the perfect spot with the Orlando Magic, however, which is likely better than him going in the lottery and in a less-than-ideal situation.
Right now, Richardson is the only former Spartan to sign with his first NBA team this offseason and he's gearing up for what should be an intriguing stretch of Summer League action.
But when will we get to see him take the floor with the Magic?
[According to 247Sports' Stephen Brooks](https://247sports.com/college/michigan-state/article/orlando-magic-nba-summer-league-schedule-jase-richardson-first-round-pick-michigan-state-251367197/), Richardson's first NBA Summer League with the Orlando Magic could be on July 10 against the Sacramento Kings. That game will be at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBA TV. This will be fans' first opportunity to see Richardson suit up and play at the NBA level.
Spartan fans are hoping Jaden Akins signs with a team in the near future, too, so they can tune in to see two former Michigan State stars in Summer League play.
I'm expecting Richardson to make teams who had picks in the 10-24 range look stupid and it all starts on July 10 with a Summer League debut against the Kings.
