The groundbreaking Liverpool and Crystal Palace transfer swap deal that would spark Newcastle…

Liverpool have been busy freshening up their ranks so far this summer

Liverpool have delved into the market already this summer to bring in Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez to bolster their ranks. They have also tied up new contract deals for Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah. The latter have both put pen-to-paper on new two-year extensions at Anfield which is a major boost.

The Reds stormed to the Premier League title last season ahead of Arsenal. Arne Slot was picked as their replacement for Jurgen Klopp. He has since done an impressive job in charge of the Merseyside giants and has adapted well to life in England.

Liverpool ready to offer Crystal Palace swap deal involving Ben Doak for Marc Guehi

Liverpool are ready to offer Crystal Palace a swap deal plus cash involving Ben Doak in an attempt to land Marc Guehi, according to national media reports relayed by TEAMtalk. They are keen to lure the centre-back up north over the next couple of months. The Reds have the chance to bring in more new faces as they look to win the league again in the next campaign.

Guehi, 24, is out of contract next year and the Eagles risk losing him for free. They will see him head out the exit door for nothing in June 2026 if they don’t cash in on him now or in January, assuming he doesn’t pen an extension anytime soon. The defender has been a key player for the south London club over recent times and they face a real battle to keep hold of him amid attention from elsewhere.

Liverpool could see the England international, who has 23 senior caps under his belt, as someone to considerably boost their defensive department. He has proved that he can perform at the top level and is still relatively young. The Ivory Coast-born man may have be identified as a possible long-term replacement for Van Dijk, who isn’t getting any younger.

Guehi rose up through Chelsea’s academy and was a regular for the Blues at various different youth levels. He went on to play two games for their first-team, as well as having a couple of loan spells away in the Football League at Swansea City to get some experience under his belt. Crystal Palace then came calling on a permanent basis in 2021.

He has since become one of the Eagles’ most valuable assets and they will be desperate to keep him for as long as possible. He has made 155 appearances in all competitions since his transfer to Selhurst Park and has found the net on eight occasions. In addition, he helped them win the FA Cup last month after their 1-0 win over Manchester City in the final at Wembley.

Liverpool could enforce brutal blow on Newcastle United

If Liverpool snapped up Guehi from Crystal Palace, that would be a massive blow for Newcastle United. They have been admirers of the player for a while now, as per BBC Sport, and would have to seek alternative options if they weren’t able to get him through the door. The Toon Army are also set to miss out on Joao Pedro and Bryan Mbeumo in this window, having also previously seen Liam Delap link up with Chelsea instead.

Eddie Howe just can’t seem to attract the players he wants to at the moment which is a shame for him. His team have money to spend but can’t get deals over the line. They are gearing up for life back in the Champions League after they finished in the top five last term.

Crystal Palace would benefit from getting Doak in return for Guehi. The winger is someone with a lot of potential and has a bright future ahead of him. If he linked up with the Eagles, he would offer Oliver Glasner more competition and depth going forward and something different to call upon.

The winger, 19, played for Celtic as a teenager before making the switch down the border to England when Liverpool came calling. He has since featured on 10 occasions for the Reds, all of which came under ex-head coach Klopp, before he was given the green light to link up with Middlesbrough on a temporary basis last year to get some experience under his belt. The Scotsman, a previous entrant on Goal’s NXGN list of the most promising wonderkids in world football, went on to play 24 matches for Boro and found the net on three occasions before injury struck.
