Manchester United might have reportedly been dealt a spanner in the works over their bid to offload Jadon Sancho to one club in the summer transfer window.
Jadon Sancho’s contract with Chelsea has now expired and the former Blues attacker will return to Old Trafford amid the summer transfer window being open.
The 25-year-old Manchester United winger left Old Trafford in 2024 and completed a season-long move to Stamford Bridge, with a view to buy from Chelsea.
Chelsea’s deal with United over Sancho last August included an agreement for the Blues to sign the Red Devils player for a fee between £20m to £25m this summer.
The Blues’ obligation to buy the United star became active after ensuring they would finish at least 14th or above in the Premier League table in the 2024-25 campaign.
However, it was later revealed that Chelsea could choose to pay a £5m penalty fee instead and send Sancho back to Old Trafford in the summer instead.

Jadon Sancho’s transfer to Juventus now hinges on the next move of Man Utd-linked striker Dusan Vlahovic
Chelsea incurred the £5m fee for Jadon Sancho and the Blues went against making the former England international’s move to Stamford Bridge permanent.
Sancho’s move to Chelsea collapsed earlier this month after the club and the player’s representatives could not agree on a contract amid the need to take a pay cut.
La Gazzetta dello Sport previously reported that Sancho had been linked with Juventus and the Old Lady were considering a potential swap deal for the player.
Sancho could be offloaded to Juventus after his Chelsea move collapsed and Manchester United could bring Serbia striker Dusan Vlahovic to Old Trafford.
Dusan Vlahovic has been linked with United and the Italian club are keen to sell the 25-year-old Serbian and to cut down their wage bill with his transfer this summer.
However, La Gazzetta dello Sport now reports that Vlahovic could dig ‘his heels in’ at the Turin-based club and could scupper a move to Juventus for Sancho.

Why is Dusan Vlahovic playing hardball at Juventus amid the Serie A club’s interest in Man Utd winger Jadon Sancho?
The Italian newspaper reported that Dusan Vlahovic’s decision would mean that Juventus ‘will not be able to do much’ with trying to force a transfer.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus could try to ‘push him to leave using the Chiesa method’ as one tactic, which would mean ‘leaving him out of the squad.’
It is believed that Vlahovic’s ‘initial plan’ was conceived ‘a year ago’ and he wanted to remain at the Allianz Stadium until his contract expired in 2026.
The Serbia international would then be able to ‘leave for free’ and secure a salary ‘similar to the current one’ that he has at Juventus, who signed him in 2022.
Vlahovic has ‘not changed his mind’ on his plans and the ex-Fiorentina striker has ‘already said no’ to signing for Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce side this summer.
