Arsenal make surprise entry in race for Chelsea&LFC target

Chelsea and Liverpool have been showing strong interest in one French player. Now, they have been handed blow as their rivals have joined the race. Arsenal are the latest club to have joined the race.

The star in question here is Hugo Ekitike of Frankfurt. He is 22 years old French star who plays as striker. But, he can also play on the wings when needed. Ekitike had a superb season recently where he scored 22 goals and picked 12 assists.

This performances have attracted interest from multiple top clubs. Chelsea and Liverpool have been constantly linked with Ekitike. But, Frankfurt are in no hurry to sell the Frenchman. They have made it clear that they will only sell Ekitike if their €100 million valuation is met.

Arsenal join the race for Hugo Ekitike

Gunners are in desperate need of a new striker. They opted not to sign a striker last summer which later did not end well. Hence, a clinical striker is top priority for Mikel Arteta this season. They are linked with many big names.

According to BILD, Arsenal have now added Hugo Ekitike to their wishlist. In addition, they are also linked with Julian Alvarez but signing him will not be easy. Lastly, the report states that Gunners have no intention to pay €100 million for Ekitike at the moment.

Arsenal have Sesko and Gyokeres as top targets this summer. Both of these strikers can cost much less that Ekitike. But, the French man will become top target if Gunners fail to land both Sesko and Gyokeres. It will be interesting to see who ends up at the Emirates.

As for Chelsea, losing Ekitike will not mean anything. They have already signed Joao Pedro from Brighton. But, Liverpool will view Arsenal joining the race as big blow. They are keen to sign a new striker as Arne Slot wants to move-on from Darwin Nunez. In addition, they are said to make a move once Nunez is sold.
