The blockbuster Arsenal and Nottingham Forest transfer swap deal that could electrify the summer window

Arsenal could land a key transfer target with some savvy endeavours in the summer window

Arsenal fell short in the Premier League title race again last season. The Gunners finished 2nd behind Liverpool and weren’t able to pip Arne Slot’s men to top spot in the end. Mikel Arteta’s side will be hoping to mount another push again in the next campaign if they can.

The Gunners have the chance to bring in some new faces this summer to boost their options. They could do with bolstering their attacking department. The London outfit also have the opportunity to let some players head out the exit door to free up space and funds in their ranks.

Arsenal target Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga over recent times. According to TBR Football, he has emerged as a target for Arteta. His current club will be desperate to keep hold of him amid expected attention from elsewhere.

Elanga, 23, was an assist machine for Forest last term under the guidance of Nuno Espirito Santo and lay on 11 for his teammates. In addition, he chipped in with six goals of his own as well. The Gunners could see him as someone to strengthen their forward area and give them something different.

The Sweden international, who has 22 caps to his name, causes real problems for opposition defenders with his pace and power. Nuno’s side were lethal on the counter attack last season due to his ability on the break. If they lost him, they would have a tough job in finding a replacement.

Elanga rose up through Manchester United’s academy and was a regular the Red Devils at various different youth levels. His former team must be kicking themselves following his recent development at the City Ground. He played 55 matches during his time at Old Trafford and found the net on four occasions.

He was then given the green light to head out the exit door on a permanent basis in 2022 when Nottingham Forest swooped in. The Malmo-born man hasn’t looked back since and has got better and better. It remains to be seen at this stage whether he will be staying put or leaving though, with Arsenal mentioned as a suitor.

Arsenal should offer Reiss Nelson in swap deal

Nottingham Forest’s Elanga needs to test himself in the Champions League again. He played in the tournament for United and will surely want to do so again in the near future. Arsenal would be able to offer him the chance to show what he can do on the biggest stage.

In an attempt to tempt Nuno into selling, the Gunners should offer Reiss Nelson plus some cash. The 25-year-old has fallen out of favour at the Emirates Stadium and would benefit from a change of scene. His chances of regular first-team football are slim at this moment in time. Crystal Palace are known to be admirers, as per TEAMtalk.

The 25-year-old has been on the books of the Gunners for his whole career to date. He has made 90 outings so far and has scored eight goals. The ex-England youth international was loaned out to Hoffenheim and Feyenoord in Europe a few years ago to get some experience.

He then spent the last campaign with Fulham under Marco Silva. However, he couldn’t really make the impact he would have hoped to at Craven Cottage. He scored two goals in 11 games and his situation is now up in the air right now.

If Nottingham Forest lost Elanga, Nelson could be a useful alternative as they gear up for life in the Europa League. He is still relatively young and has potential to improve and get better down the line. In addition, he has played at the top level so knows what it entails.

Forest have been able to take the likes of Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi and get their careers on track. Nelson is someone of a similar mould and must go somewhere next he is guaranteed minutes. If he stayed at Arsenal, he would stagnate so leaving is the best option for him in this window.
