Cedrick Hardman ... Bryant Young ... Tommy Hart ... Charles Haley ... Nick Bosa?
The San Francisco 49ers' defensive leader has already produced an impressive career, earning Rookie of the Year in 2019 and Defensive Player of the Year (2022) in addition to leading the team to two Super Bowl appearances.
But now Bosa is eyeing a climb toward Niners' immortality.
He has 62.5 sacks in six seasons (despite missing most of 2020 with a torn ACL). With 4.5 more this season, he'll pass Haley for fourth place on San Francisco's all-time list. Also in sight: third-place Hart's 72.5.
With an average season - he's produced 13 sacks for every 17 games over the course of his career - Bosa could finish the season behind only Hardman (108) and Young (89.5).
Sacks are admittedly tricky, because they didn't become an official stat in the NFL until 1982. Both Hardman and Hart finished their careers in the late 1970s. Though not recognized at the time, many media outlets and teams have reviewed past game film to get an accurate account of sacks.
Hardman played seasons with the Niners and made two Pro Bowls. Hart played alongside Hardman on San Francisco's famed "Gold Rush" defensive line in 1976.
Haley helped the Niners to Super Bowls in 1988-89 before winning three more after a controversial trade to the Dallas Cowboys in 1992. He, like Young, has been enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Bosa has made five Pro Bowls and is running down the all-time Niners great pass-rushers. To bolster that resume, however, he needs to add a Super Bowl win ... or two.
