Jalen Ramsey’s contract value with Pittsburgh Steelers revealed

The Pittsburgh Steelers executed a blockbuster trade to land cornerback Jalen Ramsey from the Miami Dolhpins on Monday, and they will be taking on most of the salary.

The Dolphins added $3 million to Ramsey’s deal to help balance out the trade, and they will pay $7 million of Ramsey’s $26.6 million. Previously, the Dolphins had already paid $4 million of Ramsey’s salary.

That means the Steelers will pick up the rest of the contract, a hair under $20 million at $19.6 million this season. He is expected to be their star cornerback and rotate into the slot.

Ramsey signed an extension last September with the Dolphins, but all sides agreed that a trade is better for both sides. Now, the Steelers will have Ramsey in the fold to help anchor their defensive backfield.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Pittsburgh traded All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and a 2027 fifth-round pick to the Dolphins for Ramsey, tight end Jonnu Smith, and a 2027 seventh-round pick.

The Steelers were rumored as a potential landing spot for Jalen Ramsey for weeks, although Schefter reported last week that he was more likely to end up on the West Coast than in Pittsburgh. However, ultimately, Pittsburgh got the deal done and added one of the top cornerbacks in all of football.
