The Utah Jazz have waived Johnny Juzang ahead of free agency, despite a solid 2024–25 campaign. Juzang averaged 8.9 points and shot 37.6% from three. His release clears a non-guaranteed $2.8M, possibly signaling more roster changes ahead.

Juzang played a meaningful role for an injury-depleted Jazz squad in the 2024–25 season, appearing in 64 games and averaging 8.9 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 0.6 steals, and 1.8 three-pointers over 19.8 minutes per game. He also shot a respectable 37.6% from beyond the arc, giving the team consistent perimeter scoring off the bench.
Now 24 years old, Juzang could become an intriguing free agent target for teams seeking reliable shooting depth.
Despite the value he brought, Utah’s decision came down to timing and flexibility. Juzang was on a non-guaranteed $2.8 million deal for the upcoming season, giving the Jazz the option to move on before free agency officially began on Monday.
Juzang initially joined the Jazz as an undrafted free agent out of UCLA in 2022. Over his three-year tenure, he played 102 games, posting averages of 7.9 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.0 assists, with a shooting line of 42.1% from the field and 36.3% from three.
He was one of four Jazz players with non-guaranteed contracts heading into the offseason, alongside K.J. Martin, Svi Mykhailiuk, and Jaden Springer. Including their three new draft picks, the Jazz had 20 players under contract, making a roster shake-up inevitable.
With Juzang now gone, he could be the first domino in a series of moves as the Jazz reshape their roster.
