The columnist revealed the update—which will feel like a slap in the face with a wet fish—in his newspaper column while discussing the potential sale of [Mohammed Kudus](https://www.claretandhugh.info/mohammed-kudus-bio/).
In the piece, Steinberg stated that West Ham would accept a £60 million offer from Tottenham for the winger, but also made it abundantly clear that the club are desperate for funds.
The report stands in stark contrast to last week’s Knees up Mother Brown revelation, which claimed the West Ham board could be tempted to spend their own money—on the understanding it would be paid back once players were sold. That gave some fans hope that the club could still act while the market dragged on.
Unfortunately, it now seems that any talk of the board injecting up to £90 million of their own funds is wishful thinking.
Without available cash to sign players, new head of recruitment Kyle Macaulay appears to be stuck in the starting blocks—while most other clubs are already busy in the market.
