Skip Bayless has made a career out of twisting himself into pretzel knots in order to be the contrarian. We hoped that with his demise - firing from FS1, sexual harassment lawsuit, etc. - he would fade out of the media and make the sports world a better place.
But here we are, unable to ignore Skip when he goes out of his way to say something remarkably ridiculous. Even if it's said to only his handful of subscribers to The Skip Bayless Show YouTube channel.
Over the weekend, Bayless released a video in which he was - cue the contrarian - critical of NBA legend LeBron James for exercising his contract option for the Los Angeles Lakers and deciding to play another season at age 41 in 2026.
But what started as a silly rant on LeBron veered into NFL GOAT and Tampa Bay Buccaneers legend Tom Brady also catching strays. Brady's sin? Calling LeBron "the greatest" as the two were on stage together at an event.
“Tell me I’m wrong about this,” Bayless said. “LeBron James just can’t help himself. He, just can’t hide his runaway insecurity. Over knowing deep, deep down that he will never ever be seen as the greatest basketball player ever, by those who really know the game, by anyone who really matters."
Or ... maybe LeBron just really likes playing basketball and even at age 40 (he'll be 41 in December) he's stayed in great shape to be able to be an NBA All-Star. Where was Bayless when Brady left the New England Patriots at age 43 to play for the Bucs?
"And yeah, I know that over the weekend Tom Brady called LeBron James the greatest ever while sitting up on stage with LeBron," Skip continued. "What a sellout Tom Brady has become. When it comes to maximizing his money, Tom Brady will say and do whatever is required to polish his good guy image. He loves everybody and everybody loves Tom Brady. And he even kissed LeBron’s ass."
We're guessing Skip is just jealous of greatness recognizing greatness, and neither of them acknowledging he even exists.
