Two Miami Dolphins who have trashed the Buffalo Bills in the past are on the move following a trade on Monday.
Miami agreed to trade cornerback Jalen Ramsey, tight end Jonnu Smith and a 2027 7th-round pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers for safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and a 2027 5th-round pick.
Ramsey did not formally request a trade, but he and the team agreed that a trade was in the best interest of both parties. Smith, meanwhile, was open to being traded after a career-year and the Dolphins’ unwillingness to give him a new deal.
Both players are likely thrilled to be out of the AFC East after talking plenty of trash about the Bills in recent years.
Jalen Ramsey put his foot in his mouth years ago before joining the division when he referred to quarterback Josh Allen as trash in an interview with GQ Magazine.
“I think (Josh) Allen is trash,” Ramsey told GQ. “I don’t care what nobody say. He’s trash. And it’s gonna show too. That’s a stupid draft pick to me. We play them this year, and I’m excited as hell. I hope he’s their starting quarterback.”
He even quote-tweeted a video of Allen throwing a ball on Twitter writing, “That’s a pick waiting to happen.”
Ramsey would regret the words as he has been reminded of them after all six of his meetings with Allen. As of this writing, Ramsey is 0-6 against Allen.
To the cornerback’s credit, Ramsey did acknowledge he was wrong following a loss to the Bills in 2022.
“Yo, you all saw him,” Ramsey said after an opening season loss. “Josh Allen like 6′6,″ 260 (pounds). He’s 6′6,” 260, got a cannon... Even the touchdown he threw on me like he was scrambling up in the pocket and just flicked it and it went 50 yards... He’s a big boy. He’s a monster, man... He’s a monster. Top-five quarterback in the league. He can scramble, he can make every throw, got a cannon.”
Smith, however, bashed Buffalo more recently. In an appearance on The Dive Bar Podcast, the tight end took shots at the Bills Mafia fan base, the city and even chicken wings.
“That’s why the fans be hating so much because they want to be down here (in Miami),” said Smith. “You ever went to Buffalo? Oh, my gosh, man,” Smith said. “I don’t know how those dudes do it. I don’t know how they did it. I don’t know how they did it, man. Going from anywhere in the country, man, and going to Buffalo. It got to be the worst place you could be... And the Buffalo wings ain’t even good,” Smith added. “They ain’t even good. I’m at Buffalo. I’m at them. All type of shots at Buffalo.”
Ramsey and Smith were able to escape the AFC East with their move to Pittsburgh, but they won’t be able to avoid the Bills altogether. Pittsburgh will host the Bills on November 30 this season.
