Jermaine Jenas says he is not worried for Newcastle United when it comes to losing Alexander…

· 30 June 2025, 21:00

**There has been a lot of speculation about the future of Alexander Isak, mostly based in pure fantasy, but the fact remains that the Newcastle United striker is one of the most coveted players right now.**

Newcastle's main goal-scoring threat has often been hailed as one of the best strikers in the world right now, which has caused many outlets to argue that he should be playing at a 'bigger club' than Newcastle United.

Again, without getting drawn into a debate over what constitutes a 'bigger club', the Magpies lifted a trophy last season and qualified once again for the Champions League, so it's not like we're the relegation fodder we were just a few years ago.

It does seem as though certain members of the press still see us as that, and they are adamant that Isak should be looking to seek a move elsewhere.

Jermaine Jenas has no worries about Newcastle keeping hold of Alexander Isak

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Newcastle's chairman, Yasir Al-Rumayyan, told the board to resist all offers for the striker this summer after Newcastle's Wembley victory, and nothing has changed on that front.

But while Newcastle fans are fully aware of the club's stance on letting Isak go, the media simply can't let it lie, and as such, Jim White asked former Newcastle player Jermaine Jenas on TalkSPORT if he was worried about Isak leaving Newcastle. Jenas said he wasn't worried at all and could only name a few clubs that he could even go to that would be a big step up from where he is.

> "No I'm not actually (worried about Isak leaving). I do honestly believe that for Newcastle's best players to leave, they've literally got to be stuck in a corner, Newcastle, as a football club. There must be no way out from a Financial Fair Play position."It's not because they can't give Alexander Isak the wages he wants and it's not because he's not playing in the biggest competitions and so and and so forth."\[Manchester\] City's not an option for starts. Arsenal and Liverpool are an option, but I don't see Arsenal as a massive jump forward, personally.

> "For him to leave Newcastle, If I was Alexander Isak this phone call needs to come in from Real Madrid or it needs to come in from Barcelona, or maybe Liverpool."

We can't wait to see Liverpool-biased media spin this one in their favour

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

No doubt, the Liverpool fans will manage to spin that as saying Liverpool have a chance of signing Isak this summer, when that's not what Jenas said at all.

At the end of the day, there won't be a club out there that can afford to sign Alexander Isak right now without putting themselves in serious financial trouble, so Newcastle don't really need to worry about the potential of him leaving at all.

Does that mean we've heard the last of these irritating rumours? Not by a long shot.
